Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, is preparing for a massive hiring spree in 2024 as it seeks to strengthen its chatbot, Grok, and compete with industry leaders like OpenAI, Meta, and Google. According to multiple employees, the company plans to onboard thousands of data annotators, or “AI tutors,” who will play a crucial role in refining and improving Grok’s language comprehension, contextual awareness, and image-processing capabilities.
This hiring wave reflects Musk’s ambition to accelerate AI development and solidify xAI’s position in the artificial intelligence arms race. The company has already attracted significant investment, recently raising $6 billion in funding and constructing what Musk calls “the world’s largest supercomputer” in Memphis, Tennessee.
